The Renovables 2030 program from the Barcelona Provincial Council provides grants for investment in photovoltaic installations, biomass for thermal uses, and the renovation of public lighting. The fight against climate change urgently requires accelerating the energy transition: reducing consumption, investing in renewable energies and a more decentralised and participatory model.
Since 2022, Renovables 2030 programme has awarded €160 million to 190 local authorities, which each year save more than 182,700 MWh between photovoltaic generation and savings in lighting, —the equivalent of the energy consumption of 65,000 inhabitants— and reduce greenhouse gas emissions by 76,000 tonnes —equivalent to the absorption of 7,500 trees.
